Turboprops
A turboprop is the right aircraft for a short leg. Under about two hours it gets you there close to the time a light jet would, and it uses runways that are short for a jet. A paved runway of about 3,500 feet is enough for the aircraft we source from our sourcing network in this category. That opens up small county airports close to a lake house, a farm or a golf course. The cabin is pressurized. You will hear the propellers more than you would on a jet, but you can talk at a normal volume. Six to nine seats, a lavatory on nearly every one, and a baggage area that takes golf bags and coolers without a fight.

2 to 8 seats · short trips to about three hours nonstopVery light and light jets
Very light and light jets bring our smaller jet options together. Start with a very light jet for two to four travelers, or a light jet for a group of six to eight, depending on the aircraft and baggage. Both suit shorter trips where a compact cabin works well. Very light options include the Citation Mustang, Cirrus Vision Jet and Phenom 100. Light jet options include the Citation CJ3, CJ4, Phenom 300 and Learjet 75 and 45XR.
Very light jet planning starts at $7,000 for the first 1.5 hours per flying day. Light jet pricing varies by aircraft and trip.

7 to 9 seats · about four hours nonstopMidsize jets
A midsize jet is the first category where you stand up, walk to the lavatory and close a door behind you. Seven to nine seats, about four hours nonstop, and a baggage bay that takes a week of luggage or skis for everyone on board. It is the workhorse of charter for a reason: it fits families, small teams and couples who want room, and it still uses runways that a heavy jet cannot. The midsize jets we source from our sourcing network are the Citation Excel and XLS+, the Hawker 800XP and 900XP, and the Learjet 60. The Excel and XLS+ and the Hawkers are aircraft we place clients on regularly from our sourcing network.

8 to 10 seats · about five hours nonstop, coast to coastSuper midsize jets
A super midsize jet is what you pick when the trip runs past four hours or the group runs past eight. It flies coast to coast nonstop, it is faster than a midsize, and the cabin is wide enough that two people can pass in the aisle. Eight to ten seats, a full stand up cabin on the Latitude and the Challengers, a real galley, and baggage you can reach in flight on some of them. The super midsize jets we source from our sourcing network are the Citation Latitude, the Citation X, and the Challenger 300 and 3500. The Latitude and the Citation X are aircraft we place clients on regularly from our sourcing network.

A heavy jet is for the trip a smaller cabin cannot do well: ten or more people, six to eight hours nonstop, or a long international leg where you want a full galley, a cabin attendant and room to sleep. The cabin is wide enough for a conference grouping on one side and a divan on the other. Baggage is about 115 to 130 cubic feet, and you can reach it in flight. The heavy jets we source from our sourcing network are the Falcon 2000 and the Challenger 604, and both are aircraft we place clients on regularly from our sourcing network. We also source the Legacy 600 and the Falcon 900 for larger groups.

For long international trips, an ultra long range jet gives you space to work, dine and rest along the way. We use 12 to 16 travelers as the category planning range, with the actual seating and sleeping arrangements confirmed for the proposed aircraft.
