Citation Excel and XLS+
The Excel family is the midsize jet clients ask for by name, and one we place clients on regularly from our sourcing network. A stand up cabin, eight seats, an enclosed lavatory and a big outside baggage bay, on runways about 3,500 feet long. Other midsize jets cruise faster. This one fits the beach airports, the mountain fields and the small county strips a heavier jet has to skip. That makes it the workhorse of midsize charter on our corridor.

How we estimate bag counts
We allow 60 to 80% of the listed baggage volume for packing. Assumed external dimensions: checked bag 28 × 20 × 12 in; golf travel bag 50 × 16 × 12 in; weekend bag 22 × 12 × 12 in. Counts are rounded down and show separate loads, not a combined allowance. Unspecified extra storage is excluded.

Include your baggage in a quote request →- Airframe year against the 2005 or newer standard. The original Excel runs from 1998, so an older one gets the exception review: complete records, the operator's history with the tail and recent maintenance, before we offer it.
- Crew time on type and whether the airplane is an Excel, XLS or XLS+. We review the inspection history and cabin layout of the specific airplane.
- The runway and the hot day numbers at the field you are using. The Excel family works from about 3,500 feet, so Naples, Destin and a field like Aspen are inside its numbers with margin, and a pilot confirms it for the day's weight and temperature.

Citation Excel and XLS+ questions.
What is the difference between the Excel, the XLS and the XLS+?
Same cabin on all three. The XLS, from 2004, added newer engines and avionics. The XLS+, from 2008, added a glass cockpit and a little more range. From the seat they are the same aircraft, and the year on your quote tells you which one you have.
How much does an Excel or XLS+ charter cost?

How many seats and how much baggage?
Eight in the usual layout, up to nine on some. About 80 cubic feet of baggage in the outside bay takes a week of luggage for eight or skis for everyone on board.
